COVID-19 and stART 2021
April 13, 2021:
Dearly beloved artists, crafters, performers, and the creative community:
The past year has been interesting, to say the least. The pandemic has impacted every aspect of our lives, from our jobs and our social lives to our homes, our routines, and our abilities to plan for anything in the future.
While we are finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we are still unclear on exactly how far away it is. With respect to this lack of clarity, and to the many artists and crafters whose livelihoods have already been catastrophically impacted by the pandemic, Team stART cannot in good conscious ask our vendors to create goods for a festival that may either be prohibited at the last minute, or poorly attended due to ongoing public health concerns.
For these reasons, Team stART is disappointed to announce that the September 2021 festival will not take place. As much as we all need the festivity of sunshine, smiling faces, and to be surrounded by hundreds of expressions of creativity, at this time making plays of this magnitude requires too many people to gamble, creating a scenario that is not in line with stART’s dedication to supporting the local economy and the arts.
We understand how disappointing this news is, and we feel it too. However, we are not willing to create a situation in which our volunteers, vendors, and visitors will have to risk financial stability or their health.
With all our love,
