Title: “Restrained Rage from the Whispers in the Dark”
Created with: constructed stretched canvas, acrylic paint, collage, personal comic book character, and musical sound track to create mood.

Brief description of process: This painting shows the 3 initial emotions following loss: fear, rage, and depression. This piece features my own comic book character that was created in sixth grade. 6 months of planning went into the construction of the canvas, the composition, colors to express emotion, and primal caricatures. Further planning went into the sound track in order to put the artist into mood to tangibly express the emotion felt by the music. Comic books have been a constant inspiration of the artist. Planning included careful choice of characters and panels from their comic books in order help the artist express emotion through color and figure. The actual construction and completion of the piece took only 3 weeks after about 8 months of planning. The smaller canvas featuring caricatures off to the top left and the bottom right are the artist’s impression of the subject’s worst features. This piece is “lovingly” called the “ex-girlfriend” piece. This is the only piece that the artist hasn’t gone back to re-work.
